What is pressing?
Removal of minor defects from comic books such as dents, non-color breaking folds, bends, waviness and spine roll.
Benefits of Pressing
Potiential improvement on the grade and thus the value of the book. An improvement in overall appearance.
HOW IT'S DONE?
Machine and hand pressing (hand pressing often needed for overhangs, dents and spine roll) and dry cleaning which removes surface dirt. Humidification is used as beneficial.
OUR PRESSING RATES ARE AFFORDABLE & SIMPLE
Our goal in starting the pressing service was to make the improvements in appearance and grade that pressing brings a realistic option for a much wider range of books. We also wanted to keep the submission process as simple as possible. To this end our rates are set so that far more books can be considered for pressing and there are only a few pricing tiers. Really, what is the difference between Avengers 130 (Dec 1974) and 131 (Jan 1975)? Why would one cost more to press than the other?
